7 TIPS FOR NEW SWIMMERS

 If you are just starting to swim or you are swimming more often than usual, there are things that you may not know. That’s why we have listed some of the tips that you may not know about swimming and the things that can help you as a new swimmer. 

1. WARM UP BY GLIDING

Don’t just start swimming laps when you get into the pool until you’ve warmed up. Start your swimming sessions by spending a couple of minutes gliding. This will get your blood flowing and let your body become used to the water.

2. PRACTICE BREATHING

Once you’ve glided for a few minutes, turn onto your left or right side and do some breathing. Breathing’s the most important thing to swimming successfully. When you practice your breathing techniques, you’ll have more success.

3. CHECK THE SESSION TIMES AT THE POOL

The majority of pools will have lane sessions allocated. This is when the lanes get sectioned off. Other than these lane sessions, you could find yourself weaving all over the place. Not only can this be frustrating to you, but it can be frustrating to the other swimmers.

4. KEEP YOUR STUFF CLEAN

Make sure that you wash your gear thoroughly after you have gone swimming. Chlorine and salt water can wreak havoc on your bathing suit and can fade it.

5. BE CAREFUL BUYING YOUR GEAR 

Choose your gear carefully and be sure that you’re not just buying something that looks good. You want to buy things that are practical. Some trunks and suits may look wonderful, but they could be losing their color or shape after you’ve worn them a few times.

6. PROTECT YOUR HAIR 

When you are swimming regularly, it can affect your hair and scalp. One of the best ways that you can help keep your hair and scalp healthy even with all your swimming.

7. WEAR A SWIM TOP WITH A LINING 

If you’re feeling as if you’re never getting warmed up while swimming, lined tops are a great choice. These tops can increase how much you enjoy swimming. Make sure it’s close fitting without restricting your movement. The temperature of a pool can considerably vary so you shouldn’t assume that you don’t need one because you’re comfortable in one pool. Also, remember that the ocean is going to be a lot colder than a pool. So even if you are good with swimming in pools, you might want to invest in a couple for if you go swimming in a pool or lake.

These are seven tips that you can use as a new swimmer. They’ll make things a lot more comfortable for you and help you with reaching your swimming goals.
